Kitchen Project – Fendalton

These past few months have flown by, and although it was wonderful being able to ski most of the Winter, I am somewhat relieved to see/ feel the beautiful spring weather.  The landscape transforms spectacularly in this part of the world, and the blossoms, flowers and scents that erupt at the start of Spring are a positive and regenerating signal indicating its the end of winter.

With Summer just around the corner, and Christmas entertaining too, the completion of my Client’s new kitchen couldn’t have been timed any better.

These wonderful Client’s have lived in different countries around the world and have acquired many furniture pieces along their travels.  So the concept behind this kitchen design and selection of finishes, was to create a simple backdrop to the existing furniture, and draw a subtle connection between this and the timbers already used throughout the home.  With most kitchens I design, my Client’s request timelessness in the look, and in this kitchen, this is reflected in the Shaker style cabinet fronts and door/ drawer hardware.

This project included kitchen design and full project management of trades, and although this project was completed in New Zealand, I also offer Kitchen design for my Australian Client’s.  If you have any queries about your own kitchen design project, please don’t hesitate to get in contact with me directly.

Different handles were selected for the drawers vs the cupboards. The same matt black finish is what makes them look uniformed.

Overhead cupboards were not a practical design solution in this kitchen, so we opted for a full height pantry which has the stone benchtop running through it.

Floating teak shelves add a natural warmth to this predominately ‘all white’ scheme.
